Song Of Light by MaximeDaviron Song Of Light by MaximeDaviron
I came at the Cascades d'Ars for the first time during last autumn. It was a rainy day of november ... There was no much water flowing. I had the vision of the place at spring, a foggy morning ... I imagined the rays of the sun piercing the mist above the falls ...
So I told myself that I would return here to see this, one day ...

This day arrived on last week end. I went to these waterfalls a foggy morning of april, and when I saw the falls, the rays were here, above the unchained water. It was like in a dream ...

But it was really difficult to photograph. There was always many drops on the lens.

This is a very interesting lighting condition. Very difficult to expose right though. A long exposure for the water and maybe multiple for even lighting would've better I think. Do you have more of this particular location? Looks promising.

Thanks. For the water, I didn't want a too long exposure (for esthetic reasons), and not a to short exposure either because the impression of movement (at this distance) will be lost. So I found a "golden mean".
Otherwise, a long exposure (10 ou même 2s) was just impossible because of the drops who get instantly on the lens. But this shot could have been better. It's on. But I'll have many occasions to try again, I'm young and I go to the Pyrénées just since jully 2011.
Btw, thanks for your interessants feedback ! Truly appreciated ;)

And yes, I have other shots of this place, I'll post another of this morning. Otherwise, I have the photos of last autumn : [link]

The other shot looks better exposure-wise still I really like the compo of this one. But I guess most people prefer longer exposures that result in silky water, if you don't I guess it's a matter of taste. :D

Hmm in fact I really like long exposures, but I also think that it depends on situations, and I try to adjust it according to my impressions.

Hm, I usually go with long exposures as soon as I get some moving water in the frame. But mostly streams; when it comes to ocean waves I decide depending on what I want out of the image. ;)
